Day 3 – New Found Friend


I have this very arrogant, rude & self –centered classmate; I disliked him since the beginning of this trimester.

Unfortunately, because of my stupid alarm clock, I woke up late and was 15 minutes late for my 1st class. Ares, the chief god of mischief might have set his foot on our classroom that day because the most terrible thing just happened. Because of my tardiness, I was paired with my very annoying classmate to work on a case study that will last until the end of the 1st trimester.

I’m really pissed and felt so unlucky to have him as my partner… all he does is to brag about himself being so handsome, so charming & so sexy. (In fairness, He is…)

Fast forward….

Earlier, I was minding my own business sitting silently & staring blankly at the board. When he suddenly sat beside me… He was about to say something but I cut him short by saying that I’m not in the mood to listen to his ego-filled stories, he covered my mouth with his hands to shut me up (he’s wearing a Hugo Boss Energize perfume, I smelled his wrist) and said, “Don’t react, just listen…”

In a very soft voice, he uttered…

“Mariel, I know that you’re in deep shit right now, you don’t need to deny it, your tongue may lie, but your eyes won’t…

I want you to know that whatever that is bothering you. Please have the courage to share your woes with me, I promise not to make any noise, I just want you to know that you can always cry on my shoulder, even if you don’t want to say a word, just cry…”

I don’t know just what happened; I just felt that my tears are flowing down my cheeks. He guided my head towards his shoulder.

I never seen or heard him so sincere before and to be honest, I never felt any better since Monday.

It is safe to say that I’ve found a new friend in him.
